Description
Approximately 45 minutes separates the house from Marseille and its airport, Aix- en- Provence or Avignon and their TGV stations, and even the sea and its sailboats…….. In a very short time you can be in the centre of some of the most beautiful villages in France: Lourmarin or Gordes, Menerbes or Ansouis, and their celebrated markets. A supermarket is less than a kilometre away, tennis, horse riding or golf are within easy reach but neverless the property itself is in calm and peaceful surroundings. You can reach the house by a private road bordered by cypress and oak trees, then by a pathway of lime trees through the grape vines. At the centre of the vineyard – classed AOC – and beside its spacious lawns shaded by 100-year old cedars, pines and oaks, La Ferme du Buou, an ancient silk worm farm from the XVIII century enjoys uninterrupted views over the Luberon mountains. Hidden in the English-style garden are some stone steps linking the south terrace to a large, alarmed pool, built to resemble a Provencal lake, and an old stone hut housing the sun beds and mattresses for the pool. The house has kept its Provencal character, stone floors, ancient ceilings and plastered fireplace. On entering by the south terrace, the dining room with its antique furnishings and the living room housing wifi, many English books, CD’s and DVD’s, leads into the well-equipped kitchen and rear pantry. Both the bathroom and the toilet have windows opening onto the vines. At the top of the ancient staircase a landing separates the large bedrooms. - a bedroom furnished in the Art Deco style which has a 1m60 bed and south- facing windows. - A bedroom with high Provencal ceiling, a 1.40m bed with French door offering a view over the garden at sunrise. - a mezzanine with a twin-bedded room, beds of 0.90m
The bathroom with shower and toilet overlooks the hills.
You can reach the totally independent “blue” room by an external stone staircase. This room has a 1m40 bed.
At sunset, when silence replaces the chattering of the cicadas, you should leave the shade of the south terrace and move to the courtyard with the almond tree where you can sit on the bench or chairs to watch the last rays of the setting sun. At nightfall you can hear the frogs singing in the surrounding countryside and the pool will be magically illuminated by the many garden lights. At the stroke of midnight the automatic watering system will switch on to bring the necessary water to revitalize the precious greenery surrounding the house.
